2023 Little League Spring Tryouts

Hello RALL Families!

We are less than a week away from Majors and AAA mandatory tryouts. We were hoping for outdoors, but made the decision to move it indoors so we can plan it appropriately. We have a few spots left in AAA, if you know of any families that are interested in playing, please share!

Here are the details:

When
Saturday, February 11th

Location:
Reno Mustangs Dynamic Academy, LLC
120 Woodland Ave, Ste. A
Reno, NV 89523

Time:
See below for specific times by league ages/divisions
Majors 8:00-10:00 am
AAA: 9:45 am-12:45 pm

What Should Players Expect?
Players will rotate through stations: Hitting (3 live pitches), Pitching (3-5 pitches per player), Fielding/Throwing/Catching (3 balls to field, 3 throws to “1st base” and then rotate to catch the ball at 1st base from the player behind you) and Running (about base length distance).

What to Wear and Gear to Bring?
Dress appropriately, baseball uniform recommended. Gym shoes (no cleats).  Bring a USA stamped bat (no travel ball bats) and your glove. We’ll have extra bats and helmets on hand if needed. Confirm that your player has their gear before they leave.

Check-In and Medical Release
Parents will need to meet with our check-in crew, who will confirm we have on file a completed medical release. We require a hard copy every year. We must have a completed medical release before the player can try out. We held two document days to provide parent’s opportunity to turn this document in prior to tryouts. Your player will not be allowed to try out until this is completed. Some blank copies will be on hand. Once medical release is confirmed, we’ll provide the player a tryout number (sticker to place on back).

Can Parents Watch?
The facility we are renting is small, so only players, approved head coaches and their intended assistant coaches are allowed inside, along with RALL board members running the stations. We ask that you remain in your vehicle until your child has completed their tryout. Please do not drop and go. When your child exits the building, we will not be able to walk children to their parents/guardians.

Parking?
Parking space can be limited. There may be some parking behind the building, but we also suggest parking along the street, or Mayberry Park is at the end of the street and is a short walk to the facility (101 Woodland Ave).

How Long are Tryouts?
We’ll rotate by divisions and specific age groups. Major league age 12 year old's start first (8:00 check in) and we expect them to be done by 8:45-9:00 am approximately. When the Major’s league age 12 year old’s are done, Major’s league age 11 year old's and 10 year old's will go next. We ask that players arrive 10-15 minutes early (except the 12 year old's), in case we are ahead of schedule, but of course, we may get behind, depending on how many players in each age  group.

Actual Age vs. League Age?
Tryout times are broken down by Division then league ages. When we say “league age” that is the age of player before Aug 31, 2023. If your player is currently 8, but turns 9 in April, then your player is considered “league age” 9.  See league age chart to confirm what time you should arrive.

Which Division Did I Sign My Player Up For?
Login to your account and you’ll see your player’s name and a blue bar below their name will tell you which division you signed up for. Or you can check under “Orders” on the left hand side. If it says there is a division open to register for, that just means your player’s age allows them to sign up for another division, but don’t do this, because you’re already signed up!

If I Signed My Player Up For a Specific Division, are they Guaranteed a Spot in that Division?
Only league age 12 year old's and returning players that played Majors Spring 2022 have to be placed in Majors. In AAA, all league age players 10 and 11 year old's will be placed in AAA or considered for Majors. League age 9 and 8 year old's will be considered for AAA and automatically placed in AAA if they played AAA in Spring 2022. Fall divisions do not apply, as fall ball is developmental. Please read more about tryouts here.
